There are two types of factors which affect our lives and work:
External Factors
Internal Factors
Where external factors are the factors that are not in our control, but the other factors that are internal factors are something which is inherent in us only we are the one who can control as per our wish.
These internal factors enclose our thoughts, feelings and behaviour. If we are able to manage these factors, achieving goals and success will be nothing for us. Work/life balance is at best an ambiguous technique and at worst a complete myth.
In today’s era, the most important thing is to manage the space of our life along with our work. But by controlling our choices and managing our behaviour overcoming this balance is simple.
What Is Behaviour Management?
Behaviour management is a little different from the term Behaviour change and it focuses on maintaining order rather than focusing on changing and modifying of behaviour.
So there are few points which can help you in achieving every success in your life and be efficient at work. Adopting all these attributes in your behaviour will not improve your life terms and work condition, but will improve you as a human being too.
#1. Make a Priority List |
Balancing your work and life in an appropriate way is the most challenging task today. So, the first thing that will help in this work/life management is introducing a Priority list in your behaviour.
“Things which matter most must never be at the mercy of things which matter least.” - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
The behaviour of deciding what is more important for you now and making a list of things based on your interest will help you in placing all your unnecessary things behind the real important ones.
This is true that we can do anything, but for sure we can't-do everything. Even if we can but not at least not at the same time. So, start thinking about your priorities, not in terms of what you're doing, but when you do them.
Whether it is your work or your life understanding the importance and priority of things can help you manage your routine and at the end of the day, you can sleep without any burden of thoughts.
#2. Time Management |
“Lost time is never found again.” – Benjamin Franklin
If you’re the one who is always late and wait for the last moment to come to complete the task, then balancing your life and work is very important for you. Time will never wait for you. So, keep going with it and convert your advance worrying as your advance planning.
But, if you’re thinking of utilising all your time and assuming that you will waste your time doing some stuff other than your work, then you're wrong because time wasted for enjoyment is never wasted. It is all that up to how you’re allocating your time.
Giving importance to time will give you a relaxed life. Try to manage and allocate time for your short goals. In spite of deciding that, what do you want to achieve, first try to focus on the attributes which will make you achieve your goals and try finishing them on the decided time. One day this way you’ll be standing on your goal and you will have no clues from where you did it and how!
#3. Adopt A Positive Behaviour |
“Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you'll start having positive results.” -Willie Nelson
It is a secret of nature that if you want something to start thinking about it and keep on thinking, one day for sure you'll be gifted the same by nature.
Same way if nothing is going right in your office! Or there is a lack of peace in your home! Start thinking positive, the more you’ll radiate positive energy the more you will welcome positivity in your life.
Even if you’re going through stress, keep on thinking positive and remember everything in our life is for some reason, if something is not going the right way it is there to teach you the lessons of life.
#4. Start Rewarding Yourself |
Appreciation gives us a feeling of satisfaction and strength to keep walking. What if nobody else appreciates you!
What if the goal you achieved is very small! Go ahead and start giving a reward for all your small and big accomplishments. This will give you more strength in your life and during work.
Stephen Richards said it best:
“You are essentially who you create yourself to be and all that occurs in your life is the result of your own making.”
#5. Maintain A Healthy Lifestyle |
“If you want to do something healthy for yourself - focus on your internal relationship. A diet, external, or materialistic fix WON'T work.” -Brittany Burgunder
For generating healthy behaviour in your life and work, a healthy lifestyle requires a little care of yourself can change your views towards your work and life.
So eat well, sleep well, try to make out a few hours for exercise and little time to pursue the things that you enjoy.
#6. Limit Your Addiction |
If we are talking about behaviour management, it’s very important to mention your controlling power. Anything that is making you stress-free is good for you, but something that is the only thing becoming to make you stress-free is not your habit it is your addiction.
So keep control on your addictions like alcohol or drugs to walk far in the path of your success.
“Every form of addiction is bad, no matter whether the narcotic be alcohol, morphine or idealism.” - C.G. Jung
#7. Start Spending Time With Yourself |
Adopting this in your behaviour will help you in understanding yourself better than anyone else. By doing this you can think about all your faults and accomplishment which will give an idea for your future step.
Understanding yourself can be your best guide for your life.
“Your own Self-Realization is the greatest service you can render the world.”- Ramana Maharshi
So, by adopting all these points in your behaviour you can maintain a work-life balance in your life which is nowadays very important to maintain.
