Audio Conferencing: Types, Benefits and Advantages

Whether in a business or not, communication is the bridge that helps you engage with your colleagues, teams, and customers to excel. People from any corner of the world can share and exchange their ideas and information in an instant. Effective communication plays an important role so that your team drives a successful business to new heights.

As we are in this pandemic, conferencing solutions showed us a spiking growth in their usage. Audio conferencing is one of those solutions that grew big in this time. The audio conference uses a solution called ‘ conference bridge’ to connect dialed numbers in an audio conference. The audio conference has proven itself the modern bridge of communication and collaboration and is now taking teleconferencing to the next level.

Video conferencing is another solution that people are using to achieve the same and a little more too. There is no doubt that there is some video conferencing software out there that can deliver so much in less but does that make audio conferencing good for nothing?

Well, it is not like that. Audio conferencing has its own benefits and advantages that a business can use to create something more in less. But first, we will learn about the type of audio conferencing.

# Type of Audio Conferencing:

As I said, first we will learn about the types, so audio conferencing is of two types.
  • Inbound Audio Conferencing (One-to-One)
  • Outbound Audio Conferencing (Multi-point)

# Inbound/ One-to-One Conferencing:

A One-to-one, point-to-point, or inbound conference system allows two people to connect from different locations. This way, a bridge is built between two persons to let them share ideas and information in an instant.

In this process, every participant will be given a passcode before the meeting starts. Now, whenever any users want to join the conference, they will have to dial the meeting number. After that, when asked, they can enter the passcode. As the passcode is entered correctly, participants will be able to join the conference. This method makes meetings more secure and safe from unwanted intruders. Because without the passcode anyone is unable to join the conference.

# Outbound/ Multipoint Conferencing:

Distributing passcodes to every participant in an Inbound conference but this process may feel a bit hectic to some. So what is the solution? The outbound conference appears here as a solution to this.

In an outbound conference, the moderator or host needs to feed the system with a contact list of participants. Now, during the time of the meeting, all a host needs to do is create the conference. The system will dial all the numbers on the list. Now the participants only attend the call. No need to enter any passcode or any other digit. Just attend the call to join the conference.

# Advantages of Audio Conferencing:

If compared to video conferencing, audio conferencing is a lot cheaper. But this doesn’t mean it is any less when it comes to exchanging ideas and information and creating a communication bridge. So let’s have a look at what Audio conferencing has for us to offer.

# Convenient and Productive:

If you are equipped with a headphone and a strong network, there is nothing that can stop you from attending a conference. You do not need to have high-speed internet, a laptop with a webcam, microphone, or earphones. All you need is a cell phone with an active number. So wherever you are, you can always attend audio conferences from anywhere, anytime. It makes it easier for team members to engage and collaborate with colleagues at different locations.

# The Efficiency:

As we said earlier, audio conferencing eliminates all the hassle of big accessories. No need to set up a workstation that appears to be professional and delicate. An attendee doesn’t even have to think of how he/ she is looking before attending a conference. Connect and jump straight away to the topic in hand. It creates efficiency in the workforce. Audio conferences are like the work of Steve Jobs, plain, simple, and quick. That means you can schedule meetings quicker, exchange and engage quicker and come to a conclusion quicker.

# Money Saver:

There are two ways it saves money for you. First is less equipment. Like in video conferencing, you need a laptop, desktop, or tablet with a stable internet connection and a webcam. In audio conferencing, you only need a phone with an active number, and in today’s world, who doesn’t have it?

Another way is that it reduces the traveling cost. I know it is COVID already, and you are not traveling, but it will end soon. Once it is over, you might think of traveling like normal for business purposes. But with audio conferencing, you can save a lot of money. Cutting travel and meeting place expenses can open new ways to invest money in different places.

# Straight and Secure:

When in video conferencing, people have a lot of fear of privacy. When Zoom was on its rise, it faced backlash for its not-so-secure server and data leaks. While there are some video conferencing platforms providing security with encryption while some are not that promising.

In Audio conferencing, bit-level security makes it more trustable. Bit-level encryption makes it hard to penetrate the security wall and disturb the conference. While not compromising security, it also delivers higher-quality calls.

# When to go with Audio Conferencing:

When you are looking for quick updates on products and services, the audio conference connects you in an instant. Whether it is meeting in a nutshell or just a brief about something, audio conferencing will work just fine for you.

While you are trying to connect with audiences or address a big audience at once, then audio conferencing is your go-to partner.

If you are willing to enhance your team collaboration and engagement, you need to understand when to switch between, Audio and video conferencing.

# Fin

So this is the basic introduction of the audio conferencing service. In this pandemic, many businesses are struggling to adapt to the digital workforce. Meanwhile, the second wave of COVID is also making it hard to go back to normal. With the audio conferencing service, you can adapt to the situation and save your business and money a lot.
